WHAT'S NEW

MESSAGE FROM THE VICE CHAIR AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Ottawa, March 27, 2019 - It is my pleasure, on behalf of the Copyright Board, to inform you of the publication of a first series of practice notices aimed at clarifying the expectations of the Board in respect of participants in its proceedings.

These three practice notices deal with: (1) electronic files submitted to the Copyright Board; (2) sworn statements by fact witnesses in oral hearings; and (3) acknowledgement of expert witnesses.

This initiative stems from the Board’s determination to be more transparent, and its modernization efforts complementary to the recent changes brought to the Copyright Act by the Government of Canada, which will enter into force on April 1, 2019.

The Board plans to publish other practice notices in the coming months.

Nathalie Théberge Nathalie Théberge
Vice Chair and Chief Executive Officer
