OUTCOME OF INTERPRETATION POLICY FOR REGULATIONS CONSULTATIONS

Pursuant to Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) requirements, the Copyright Board held an online consultation concerning its new Interpretation Policy for Regulations with targeted stakeholders from March 6 to March 25, 2015.

Only 1 of the 98 stakeholders invited to participate responded. That stakeholder was satisfied that the Board's Interpretation Policy for Regulations complied with TBS requirements. However, it suggested that the policy could go further by addressing other issues that may constitute the "red tape" that often leads to business uncertainty, encountered by stakeholders that engage with the Board.

The Board will ask its Working Committee on the Operations, Procedures and Processes to address the issue as part of its continuing work.

The Board will remain open to any comments in respect of its Interpretation Policy for Regulations and will post such comments on its website in a timely fashion. When necessary, the Board will make changes to it's Policy and have them approved and posted on it's website, consistent with TBS requirements.
